Facebook would be around this time its 750 millionth member welcome. That reports TechCrunch on the basis of a source in the company. The social network is by far the largest network in the world. The growth seems not to stop.

The three quarters of a billion members, not by Facebook confirmed, but according to TechCrunch would be the social network want to wait until the milestone of one billion members has been reached. The last time the company behind the social network itself said something, it was almost a year ago when the number of members 500 million was at stake. It would go to members who in the past month have logged in.

This seems to be the growth of the network is still rapidly going on, something that is possible is explained by something that the networking effect: the more people on Facebook, the more attractive it is for people who are not yet on Facebook to also be a member.

It is unclear how the situation in the Netherlands. NewCom Research claims that Hyves and Facebook as many active Dutch users, but that is based on a enqûete and not on the actual number of users. The netherlands is one of the few countries where Facebook is not yet clearly the largest social network.

Facebook is already under fire because of the privacy of users. So are check-ins of users without opt-out option sold as a Sponsored Story, and by default are becoming more and more personal data on ‘visible to everyone’.
