Ericsson has been doing field tests in Sweden to lte-advanced to try out. Lte-advanced is a faster variant of 4g technology lte. In the test was a speed of 940Mbps.

In the field tests makes a network company Ericsson use of a bandwidth of 60MHz, a lot more than 20MHz, which is currently possible with lte. Therefore, in the tests all speeds achieved which is ten times as high as the speeds that lte in the practice. That comes down to 940Mbps. With lte-advanced speeds of 1 gbps and higher are possible, as is already clear.

The roll-out of lte-advanced may start in 2013, think Ericsson. The roll-out of lte for customers began last year in Sweden. In the Netherlands lte networks, longer; the Dutch providers do now have upgrades of their old 3g network. The speed thereof can be increased up to at least 42Mbps, making it, according to the providers is still valid for the coming years.

Lte offers significant advantages for customers and providers. So it has more capacity than umts networks, it can be faster than hspa+ and is the latency is much smaller. Lte requires a new network with new hardware for the masts, which makes the investment much higher than in the updating of the old network.
