The dispute between HP and Oracle over the elimination of Itanium support as well. HP, Oracle has sued to enforce that the decision is reversed. According to Oracle is lying HP about the end-of-life status of Itanium.

Last week sent HP Oracle a letter with the request for the decision to discontinue the Itanium support to turn back. Oracle would, according to HP’s legal obligations have to be for the Itanium architecture to continue to develop. “The silence from Oracle is deafening,” says HP spokesman Bill Wohl told Reuters about the absence of a reaction. It is unclear still about what are the legal obligations of HP it has.

According to Oracle is the guarantee to Itanium in the long term to continue to support deleted from the agreement between both companies, as Oracle did not agree with this condition. “We believe that HP in september 2010 for a guarantee for long termijnondersteuning early, because HP knew of Intel’s plans for the production of Itanium to cease and desist was afraid what would happen if Oracle behind it would come,” says Oracle in a statement.

HP would be customers and shareholders have misled with statements that there are no plans to end-of-life status on Itanium-based paste, claims Oracle further. Oracle would only in march 2011, these plans have heard.

About the status of the Itanium is a lot of confusion. Intel itself has indicated that the products with Itanium cpu’s continues to release, but aside from the utterances of the Oracle, there are reports that Intel internally has decided that after the upcoming Poulson-Itanium only the Kittson appears.

HP and Oracle were thirty years long partners and share approximately 140,000 customers, but the relationship cooled after Oracle’s Sun took over and thus competitor in the servermarkt was. Also took Oracle the discredited former ceo of HP, Mark Hurd, in service, after which HP complained that he trade secrets and took them to the competitor.
