InleidingEen number of years ago I switched from a situation where I have a high end pc in my office combined with a htpc in the living room to a situation where I have a high-end pc in the study via an hdmi cable directly connect to my AV kit in the living room. This saves me an extra pc and I can result also in the living room gaming without having to use a separate console is required. I know that there are opportunities to games to a htpc to stream but I experienced a high latency. Now the high-end-pc with an extra floor to the top had it was not more possible to use this pc with a hdmi cable to my av set to connect. I quickly got out to a hdmi extender.

I had a number of technical requirements, the extender must be:

1. can operate on 1 cat5e cable.
I still had an unused cat5e cable from the living room to the attic, which I easily could use. There are extenders that have a good functioning only with a single cat6 cable or two cat5 cables to guarantee.

2. sustainable.
I expect over a few years to have an Ultra HD tv. Then is it sin to now have a good extender to buy no UHD material can be forward.

3. make use of the HDBaseT standard.
This requirement is in line with point 2 (future-proofing). What the HDBaseT standard exactly the content you read here. The bottom line is that it is a reasonably new standard for the industry is that by now, way has found to different consumer products. By making use of this standard allows for different types of signals (video, audio, usb, ir, power, etc.) at the same time by a single cable be sent. Here is the Single Cable principle at the root of it. You can then all of your AV equipment and hide them away and your tv or projector with a single cable to your AV-equipment to connect. An additional advantage of this standard is that the industry different products of this standard to use with each other can communicate.

4. different Dolby formats can stream.
The first device that I had in the house this could not be, so I quickly returned. I went thought that all of the extenders could but that is not the case.

5. infrared signals can forward.
Because of this, can I use my pc with a Harmony One control.

After a considerable search for a suitable extender, I came across the Ebode HDBT600.Specifications

It allows you to the extender and the ir neatly confirm without the use of plugs/screws. Although some consumers may be useful to three types of international plugs included, it is to me superfluous, and sin.

In the box is the following:

  • HDBaseT Transmitter
  • HDBaseT Receiver
  • 5V/2a interchangeable Power supply x2
  • 3 types of plugs (type C, G & I)

SetupHieronder see you in a diagram how I use the equipment I have connected. My computer is using the hdmi extender via one cat5e cable of 30 meters, connected to my amplifier. The amplifier splits the audio (to speakers) and video (to tv) on. In addition, I have an extra cat5e cable is laid where I have a usb extender to have connected. This way I can work my computer from the living room to operate. I also make use of the infrared function of the hdmi extender so that I my computer with my Harmony one can control.

Please use the installation of the extender, speaks for itself. After installation, everything worked immediately! No hassle with input/output settings. In practice I notice no difference with an ordinary hdmi cable. As indicated in the specifications is the signal is not compressed so there is no loss of quality. My amp picks up the DTS signals are also excellent.

An important question for me was whether this setup could be used for gaming. To do this, it is important that there is no input-lag. If you are very critical to would you this is a very small bit of can brands but it is to me to be a fractional delay. If you compare it with gamestreaming services on the local network such as streaming via Steam, this is many times better. If I would not know that the signal is extended I might not even notice. In the following video I will demonstrate this on the basis of a fragment of a game of FIFA 2016. Because the USB extender could lie, I have the USB extender (with 30 meters of cat5e cable) also in the attic and tested it with my pc monitor. At that time I noticed the delay is not. The delay is caused by the HDMI extender.ConclusieDe HDBT600 makes all of my expectations. The price is still on the high side but you do get an excellent product for back. It is a sound device which is complete and well packed supplied. Everything works out-of-the-box without installatiegedoe. The picture and audio quality is perfect. In addition, you can also find here excellent game! Unfortunately, I don’t have a UHD tv so I have no UHD material testing. Given the fact that the extender hassle free HD material on a cat5e cable sends, I expect no problems with UHD material on a cat6 cable. Perhaps cat5e cable also. If someone that have tried, I’m all ears.
