The Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Adata has his latest series of solid state drives, the S511 series, with a controller from the SF2200 series of SandForce. This should, drives high throughput rates can be achieved.

According to the specifications of Adata for S511 series solid state drives, specify, sequential throughput speeds of 550MB/s and 520MB/s for respectively reading and writing may be obtained. The drives are of course equipped with a sata-600 interface to these speeds to support. At the writing of random data in 4KB blocks to pick up the S511 drives 60000iops, the standard for a SF2200-controller.

The S511 series is in four capacities. The smallest drive has space for 60GB of data. The two middenmoters have a 120 and 240GB of storage capacity and the largest drive features 480GB of capacity. All drives are in a 2.5″enclosure to be found and weigh 68 grams. The prices of Adata drives from the S511 series range from a small 130 to about 1275 euro and the drives are available immediately.
