Sharkoon System Fan Silent 80mm is part of the Sharkoon System Fan series. This series include 12 fans in 7 different sizes. See here:

You have the option to have a Silent, Low-Noise, Midrange or Power variant. Enough choice! The fans are equipped with a robust slide bearing for a quiet operation should make sure. You can use them as a Case, CPU or Northbridge cooling.

In the Pricewatch can any confusion arise with these fans, because in each variation of the same picture and the link to a webshop, not always for the right fan refers to.

The system where the fan is placed has no case fans. Because I have no comparison material have the question for this review:
Is a simple fan as this suited as outtake fan?

.

The packaging is not so special. In addition to the fan, there 4 screws in to secure it.

Just a simple fan which is not too much attention is paid to the look.

In this review, it is the Silent version. With a speed of 1500 revolutions per minute, he is rated at a noise level of 15 dB(A). The movement is 32,4 m/off h (Cubic meter per hour), about half of the 80mm Power version and is slightly lower than the Low-Noise that are doing the work at 2000 rpm.

He is not PWM controlled, so its speed is not depending on the temperatures in your pc. The cable is 30cm long.

.

The system for the installation:

The power supply, video card and CPU are the main causes of the heat in the cabinet. Without fan hopes that, of course, hopelessly in the closet. Later we will change all that!

The screws went to what stroefjes, but the result is perfect.

.

Is the fan really quiet as promised?
Yes!

I have the fan outside the cabinet, though, because the CPU cooling and the power supply quite a noise. With your ear 1 cm from the fan away, you hear him, but even then you only hear a modest bromgeluid. With what distance of your pc from you will him to be so good as not to hear. There is a small chance that the fan above the rest of the system.

Also but, as it is felt how much air was:

A modest breeze.

.

To test whether the placement of the fan hasn’t been for nothing, I have Prime95, mainly for the CPU and Unigine Valley (up to 5 fps), more for the GPU, turned.

The temperatures:

It saves not very much, but still a couple of degrees. Here is still in that after the CPU or GPU at full load has been turned, they are faster cool down than without the case fan.

Sharkoon System Fan Silent is a silent fan which is still a few degrees can make a big difference compared to not having a case fan.

Do you want less silence, but more air, you’re in for the Low-Noise or the Power variation of the fan should go.

With a price of about 4 euro, so also for the above variants, you can in my opinion not a wrong choice to make.

Used in combination with:

  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Boxed
  • Asus M2N68-CM
  • Fujitsu nVIDIA GeForce 9500 GS
