Sennheiser PC 333D – Convo

Good sound, software 5.1, USB sound card included. Not very comfortable unless you have small ears. Cable is thin so there is, in normal use after a while internal kabelbreuken arise. I had a better cable expected for a fairly expensive headset like this. (120 euro at the time of purchase)

Pros

  • Good sound quality
  • Good microphone
  • Separate USB sound card

Cons

  • Crappy cable
  • Uncomfortable in long sessions
  • A long time to wait for W10 drivers
  • Over-ear, but suppresses ambient noise hardly.

Sound
In my opinion, is the sound quality of this headset is very good when the 5.1 emulation is disabled. The bass had some more stresses that may be but that is something personal. The 5.1 emulation only comes to its right when playing games or watching movies. The direction from which the sound seems to be coming is in accord with what happens in the movie or game happens.
The sound quality of the microphone is fine, nothing to complain.

Because the headset on the ear goes, I had expected that this noise would be mute. This is not the case.

Features
The headset comes with a USB sound card. The headset will be connected with two 3.5 mm jacks. By this construction, the headset on virtually all devices and pcs can be connected. For the 5.1 emulation of course you have the USB sound card to use. The headset is a standard recognized in Windows and Linux. For the 5.1 emulation is a separate driver is required. A linux version of the driver is not available.

Comfort
Okay, and here it goes so wrong. The ear cups are simply too small, causing your ears pinched. In addition, exercise the headset is a firm pressure on the head. All of this leads to red and painful ears after 1 to 2 hours of use. After an hour or 3 touch your ears numb and you have no more trouble .

Build quality
The housing of the headset is made entirely of plastic, with a foamed cushion on the headband and the ear cups. At the first impression looked like quality to me less reliable because everything was but this was after a period of time less. After 1 year of daily use, the housing is still in good order.

Unfortunately, the quality of the cable is a different story. It may be me but it seems like the manufacturers do their best to get copper to save. After 1 year of use fell the right speaker. First for short periods, then it was getting worse and worse. Typical case of fault in one of the veins. In the repairing of cable shows that all the wires for a large part out of fiber exist with a few haardunne koperkabels processed which were broken. (Soldering, besides for gene m)

After the repair, I have the headset still 1 week without problems can use. This was misery again, now with the microphone. Again and again can be traced to a broken cable, but now in a different spot in the cable. I would the headset still be able to save by putting a new cable on, but I’m basically done with the thing.

All in all it is an OK headset for as long as he does it. The price was 120 euro. I find that I have for that money at least a decent cable may expect.
