Panasonic announces small m4/3 camera

Panasonic has a new m4/3 camera released. The Lumix GF3 creates just as the Lumix GF2 use of an image sensor with 12.1 megapixels, but is significantly smaller. Also, the Leica DG Summilux 25 F/1.4 lens was introduced.

There were already rumors about the Lumix GF2, Panasonic has the new small m4/3 camera is now officially announced. Panasonic has not as expected the new Live MOS image sensor with 16.2 megapixels of the Lumix G3, the GF3 is processed, but the copy with 12.1 megapixels that, in several m4/3 models was used.

The new GF3 is primarily in the width slimmed down compared with the Lumix GF2. The reduction in width was made possible by the flash from the left side to move it to right above the lensmount. The shoe therefore has to abandon the field. According to Panasonic, the reason for this solution is that the majority of the users never use an external flash used. Also, the distinctive click wheel of the Lumix G-series replaced by a vertical turntable.

The camera can also 1080/50i video recording, a 3″touch screen with 460.000 subpixels and has a curved grip on the front. The GF3 is from July available in the colors black, red, white, and brown for a suggested retail price of 499 euros including 14-42mm-kit lens.

Panasonic announced together with the Leica the Leica DG Summilux 25mm F/1.4 ASPH lens. This bright lens has a maximum aperture of f/1,4, seven rounded lamelbladen, and a filter size of 46mm. By the crop factor of 2x of the Live MOS 4/3 image sensor delivers the 25mm lens with a viewing angle of a so-called standard lens in film camera equivalents. The lensbevestiging is metal, but the housing is plastic. The Leica Summilux 25mm F/1.4 will have a suggested retail price of 899 euros and will be just as the Lumix GF3 around July available.
