The format

DreamHack 2007 is divided into different halls, which are equipped with the necessary chairs, tables and a projector with screen. In hall A you can visit for a few hours to sleep. At this time, the dormitory is completely full and needs of the organization moved to a hall next to hall B. Hall B can accommodate a maximum of 3024 participants, and partly as an exhibition space for the sponsors of DreamHack. It should not be thought to sponsorstands such as on the HCC Days, but rather to stands such as those found at trade fairs such as CeBIT and IFA.

At the stand of Intel, it is possible, for example, to the new family of Penryn-based processors to the test. These cpu’s are in the thick gamebakken that are equipped with a nVidia GeForce 8800GTS. Also, Intel are battery Formula 1-racesimulators removed. The Swedish army had a real tank and a real flight simulator taken. Norton ran also a simulation, but in a different way: by a small tracked vehicle to drive must be a firewall, or the basis, of the opponent penetrated. Here was, however, a snag, because the controller could see the driver light transients. It is, therefore, more than once happened that someone of fear the controller on the field of play threw.

Hall C is the toernooihal. Here is mainly on e-sports; so, there are competitions in World of Warcraft and Quake. The C-hall with 1152 places the smallest space. With 4968 lan-places in hall D is the largest hall. Here are the main stage and a few stands of the main sponsors. This hall also borders the crewhok of DreamHack. From that loft does the organization keep an eye on things.

Games

The most played games on DreamHack are World of Warcraft and Guitar Hero. The mmorpg World of Warcraft is also in Sweden a very popular game: young and old has a dru lwa, eleven or warlord in the virtual world of WoW to move around. Guitar Hero is on the lanparty also a big hit, even though it is still not as popular as WoW. The music game is mostly with multiple people in the game, but the single-player is popular. The majority of the gamers has the white guitar purchased, though there are scattered people who have the pc version with the keyboard. What we also noticed was that Unreal Tournament 3 is not the success that we had expected.

The arcade games are also not so popular. A few times playing someone on the drums or dances of an accident on the Dance Dance Revolution cabinet. The Japanese pop music continues to merrily continue.

The network

As a participant in DreamHack, you get your own ip address and you are not limited in the use of the 100Mbit internet connection. To achieve this, use is made of more than four hundred Zyxel switches with a gigabit uplink and twenty-four 10/100Mbit ports, and a dozen or so Cisco 7600 and 4948 switches. Between the client and backboneswitches is working with gigabit copper, while the backbones interconnected with a 10Gbit fibre-optic cables to communicate.

Network equipment

This year is the internet capability at Dreamhack is bigger than ever. Last edition was DreamHack a 10-gigabitinternetverbinding to its participants to offer, this year, that is four times as much. Sponsor Telia has for the purposes of this connection, even a Cisco CRS-1, a so-called carrier router more than 150,000 euros, included. In spite of this expensive hardware does not work always. So it is here in our press room, the power failed and we have in a different room an extension of the organization may impose, and saw this on irc, as follows:
