Developers behind the CentOS project started with the release of so-called “rolling releases” of the linux distribution. This means that there is at least monthly, in a recent issue appears on the latest updates.

The release includes all security updates, bug fixes, improvements and general updates for the operating system until then. This means that users that the operating system wants to install, not need countless packages need to install before CentOS up-to-date.

Provisionally support the developers only the last major release of the operating system, version 7.0. Within a short time, would the iso files with the liveversies follow, and then also version 6.0 of the rolling releases is subject. For the version before that comes, however, not to the extent that: the installer does not meet the requirements.

The developers behind the CentOS project gave in the July version 7.0 of the linux distribution free. There was a development process of nearly three years in advance. The version includes some ‘fundamental changes’, such as the implementation of the systemd-daemon, the Gnome 3 desktop environment and the xfs filesystem.

CentOS is a free linux distribution which is popular on servers and used the source code from the commercial Red Hat Enterprise Linux distro. The company behind the latter took the CentOS project at the beginning of this year. Since then Red Hat three distributions: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora and CentOS.
